Well, Capcom have done it again, so far there have been two mega man games that have been cancelled within 3 months because clearly there are not enough street fighter editions out, so please expect super hyper turbo final edition 3rd impact ver. 5.32 to come out in stores next week.
What is megaman?
For all of you that have little too no clue about the megaman franchise then this section should suffice. Mega man also known as “Rockman Dash” in Japan from where he originated from by Keiji Inafunequickly proved to be the most profited franchise ever for Capcom.
The Megaman games are famously known for being a difficult but rewarding platform shooter. But megaman legends was the first ever series to take advantage of the 3D accelerated graphics on the PS1.
Apart from that there have been many different spins offs and the TV series known as Mega Man Battle Network , but they all reside in the same mega man universe and the Timeline is as followed:
§ Mega Man takes place from 200Xto 20XX.
§ Mega Man Xbegins in 21XX.
§ Mega Man Zero is the continuation of the Xseries, set approximately 100 years after that series ends.
§ Mega Man ZX is set approximately 200 years after the Zeroseries.
§ Mega Man Legends takes place in the 81st century(80XX)
Mega man universe: Cancelled on 31st March 2011
Mega man universe was an upcoming 2.5D platform game for the PlayStation store and Xbox Live Arcade, which was based around Mega man 2, which allowed character and level customisation for everyone to share.
Not much information was released prior to the cancelation other than a stop motion trailer and a few gameplay trailers showing the level customisation in progress. The music of the trailers was by a cover band known as “The Megas” who are frequently used as game trailer music covers.
Mega man Legends 3: Cancelled on July 18 2011
If anyone remembers playing any of the previous Mega man Legend games in the PS1 era, then I am sure you would have had the same feeling as breaking their necks, but sadly Capcom is a company, so that’s a lot of necks and they can’t all fit in my arm.
The Mega man legends series was one of those underrated gems that had everything a serious gamer could possibly want. A long compelling story, punishing gameplay, dozens of upgradable weapons and a dynamic environment all packed into the best franchise Capcom ever made which took me over 1 and a half years to complete as a kid.
Then came the Mega man legends 3 project which took the fans by storm, as we have all been waiting over a decade for this game. The project involved a “Devroom” in the Capcom forums where the fans themselves could add their own ideas into the game including “what enemies, weapons and characters” the fans wanted the most, so this was really a fan driven game.
But on the 18thJuly the Devroom received the final post notifying the cancelation of the project which resulted in many peoples work gone to waste.
So personally I am not sure if this is a new marketing strategy that Capcom is taking that Apple may quickly endure, so you Apple fans may be expecting the IPad 4 the be cancelled next week, but as a business it makes no sense for a company to make such a downright stupid decision.
But as the game didn’t make it because it didn’t “meet the criteria” then most of the fans would agree that it went something like this.
